when i traveled to tokyo in July of 2006 i
brought several cameras with me. i had both
digital and film, medium format, 35mm, and 3
polaroid cameras. after a few days of exploring i
found that i was only shooting with the polaroid.
maybe it was all of the high-tech electronic
devices that i saw on a daily basis that made me
want to use an old outdated method of documenting
the city. maybe it was the fast pace and bright
lights that screamed to be captured and slowed
down. whatever it was, the polaroid image, in its
self-contained majesty, truly captured the
essence of tokyo.
